Dear all!
Listen up!
Its November already, and our new meeting place is turning out to be a vibrant spot to meet new people, with the added bonus that we are all have plenty in common.
The Spanish Invasion language exchange group will be meeting up at 3 different places this month...
Tuesday Evenings at the St James Tavern, from 8.30 pm onwards...
Dates: 3rd, 1oth and 24th November...
On Tuesday, 17th November... We have our first get together booked at the OLE OLE Spanish restaurant 29-31 New Steine, Marine Parade, Brighton. We will be there at 8.30 for an introduction to Flamenco dancing... As its a special night Ole Ole are offering Spanish Invasion members and Combination Languages £5 for Paella a drink (Sangria or a soft drink). I will be sending out some more details closer to the time...
Thursday Evenings at the Cornerstone, Elm Grove, Brighton, from 8 pm onwards...
Eddie and Tom will be there to welcome new members and regulars...
We are looking forward to a fun month with our language exchange group... When we first started out, we had more Spanish members... Now, we have more people learning Spanish! We do want give everyone the opportunity to practice their language skills, which is why we are working hard to get everyone together...
Combination Languages Spanish lessons are well under way now and into their 4th week. The group of Beginners / Low Intermediate level students have covered topics like 'meeting and greeting', 'likes and dislikes' and 'the body and illnesses'. They have also gone over grammar points such as the present tense of regular verbs and the 'me gusta' construction.Lots of hard work and studying have taken place but lots of fun has been had as well!
The group has worked on modern Spanish pop songs and played numerous games to help them to progress with the language. And of course we all enjoy the pint and chat afterwards in the St James Tavern with Spanish Invasion members. If you think you would like to join the group, new students are welcome at any time and you're able to take part on a drop in basis (£15 for hour and a half session or £12.50 if you book for 4 weeks in advance.)Email info@combinationlanguages.com or call Suzie on 07974 563137
Come along on a Tuesday evening to the St James Tavern on St James Street from 8.30 onwards...
The more you practice your language skills... the more confident you become. This is the reason why we are have joined forces with Combination Languages to give you a head start! Come along to an evening at the St James Tavern, meet Suzi who has been conducting her lessons for the past month above the St James Tavern from 7.30 pm until 9 pm. This is a note from one of her students...
"Suzi is a great teacher and I'm really enjoying the lessons.Although I already know some Spanish, it's great to learn in a more structured way. She tries to speak as much Spanish in the lesson as possible, to make you feel more comfortable with the language. All the materials are supplied and really well prepared. It's also great to get to meet native Spanish speakers after the lessons,to practise what we've just learnt! Roll on Tuesday!" David Slattery
Thank you for taking part.. The more people who join our group the more we can do!
Saludos

A Spanish October in Brighton
Dear Invasion Members,
I can't believe October has come around so quickly! Yet, here we all are... embarking on another winter.
You will all be pleased to know that we are still going strong!
We still meet every Thursday evening at the Cornerstone from 8 pm...
Members still enjoy the Candela Quartet at More bar, on Trafalgar street on a Sunday evening and;
The Guarana bar, on Sydney Street, has become a popular meeting place for foreign language speakers...
October News:
We have a new venue for our language exchange group! We will now be meeting every Tuesday evening at the Saint James Tavern on St James Street, Brighton. We will be meeting from 8.30 pm onwards...
There is a very important reason for this!
The Spanish Invasion have now joined forces with Combination Languages!
On Tuesday, 13th October Combination Languages will be starting Beginners/ Low Intermediate Spanish Classes.
The class is conducted mainly in Spanish as this exposure to the language is the best and fastest way to learn. Don’t let this put you off though!
Instructions can always be translated and although Suzie is fluent in Spanish (having lived and worked in Andalucia and also currently living with Spanish people in Brighton) her mother tongue is English so she can ensure that she uses cognates (words similar to English) if you have any difficulties understanding!
Students practice all 4 skills; Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing with most emphasis being placed on Listening and Speaking in Spanish. The lessons are stimulating, interesting, relevant and fun!
They have a lively, interactive approach to teaching and learning and often use games, songs and authentic materials to develop your language skills. Having said that, grammar plays an obviously important role in any language and considerable time is also spent working through grammatical points.
